The hive mind at SB Nation is back at it, and this week, things are looking up for
Chivas USA
. In the
latest SB Nation MLS Power Rankings,
Chivas moved up two places to 13th. Although the Goats had two games and won the first of those, I think the voters overlooked their loss to the
LA Galaxy
last weekend and instead judged that the
Montreal Impact
and
Colorado Rapids
are worse teams than Chivas at this point. Directly ahead of Chivas is the
New England Revolution
and the
Columbus Crew
, and while both teams have had good results this season, there's no reason to believe why Chivas can't overtake them in the standings (if they can actually pick up points, of course).
Chivas are set to finish up the season series against the
Portland Timbers
Saturday. Portland is currently rooted to the bottom of the power rankings as well as the bottom of the Western Conference, so Chivas' chances look good. That said, the pressure is more or less off the Timbers at this point and they'll probably try some new things in order to find some positives in a very tough season. A Portland win ...
