'We've Gained An Incredible Number Of Friends'

Bayern's pre-season tour of China lasted five days, and included a truly packed schedule, with four training sessions, friendly matches in Beijing and Guangzhou, plus a string of appointments with the club's Partners. Naturally, bus transfers and flights also took up a great deal of time.

All in all, it was a demanding and stressful program, "but the team took a very professional approach," FCB chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge exclusively told fcbayern.de . Rummenigge described the short trip as "very successful, because we've gained an incredible number of friends in China."

fcbayern.de: Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, FC Bayern have spent five days visiting China. What impression has the club left behind?
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: Without in any way exaggerating, we can say it's been a very successful trip. We've gained an incredible number of friends, we had a wonderful match in Beijing and we still have another fantastic game in Guangzhou. It was a very important trip for the club, because we were pursuing a number of goals.

There was arguably even more local enthusiasm in China than on previous trips to Asia. Did you expect this?
